If his flagship gets hulked, you won't lose the campaign if you can recrew it with a lightning strike/boarding action (and make sure it doesn't get blown up afterwards).Īlso, if I'm not mistaken, Spire doesn't actually need to stick around for story missions-you can have him warp out and still complete the mission successfully. If his flagship gets blown up, you'll have to reload your last save. However, there is a saving grace it depends how he "dies." Indeed, if Spire dies, it's GG: your campaign is over. Originally posted by Ashantai: I don't know what happens if Spire dies in campaign, but you'll likely lose. Only nids really have to worry about their income past the early game If you spend all your resources in the first few turns and then lose all your fleets your going to be stuck yesīut once you get a few systems in a good state you should be safe economy is the hardest at the start when you dont have a lot of forge worlds and hive worlds providing income Once you grab those as the mission says the timer is resetĪny quest will reset the timer, even sidequestģ. The timer is reset by completing a mission, top right it should be telling you to capture 5 systems or something The timer getting higher also raise those numbers in the first few steps before its game over Keeping those numbers low means you face less opposition The higher those numbers are the more likely those factions invade and the more reinforcements they get on systems they ownĬonsidering IN campaign its probably only a chaos symbol at this point Without anything selected you see enemy faction symbols with numbers under it at the top left treat level reduction you gain from the sector is not the timer I don't know what happens if Spire dies in campaign, but you'll likely lose.Ģ. Unless you are massively outnumbered and outgunned it's very unlikely you'll lose a whole fleet. Your key limiting factor is how many ships you can fit in your fleet. So long as you keep your resources high you can replace any one ship. Each special operation reduces it to zero. The threat generation tab is reset by completing missions. I'd say ever bother with them unless you're getting thousands. The amount of upgrades needed to pay that off is massive, not worth it. You pay base 100 resources to reduce the cost of OTHER evolutions by 1. The benefits SOUND good, but it's ultimately a mirage. Special planet benefits like threat reduction or the ability to build stations.Īvoid agri-worlds. Shipyards, if only for the repair bonuses Always get them as they often have neat bonuses too. Since the base cost of upgrades are 100 and 150 you have to compare the cost with how long it will pay back.Ī forge world for instance is always worth while since it pays itself back in 2-3 turns. You don't have to, and indeed shouldn't upgrade everything. Resource generation is a cost/benefit analysis. I suppose you bring these along with you in the campaign, so is it to my advantage to spend whatever I can before ending this portion of the campaign to make sure I carry enough with me to the next stage? Is it possible to have a victory too costly in one stage of the campaign that makes the rest impossible? So far I am nearly at level 5 renown, have only lost 2 frigates so far, all other LCs and Cs are fine. If I go about 4-5 more turns, the meter will be filled, I would presumably lose, but the other meter shows that when I hold so many systems it should decrease the threat levels. I'm in the beginning portion of the Imperial Campaign now, and have 11/12 systems. I thought certain actions though, like taking certain systems, or achieving objectives, was supposed to slow or pause that meter. I see the 'threat generation' tab, and how it clicks from 1,2, or 3. Just curious about any good rules of thumb to avoid falling into those traps.Ģ. If I get the upgrade and wait, I'm risking running out of time for campaign. If I don't have the ship, an attack is risky, but if I get the ship and not the tier, my upkeep costs may overrun any future gains making upgrading impossible later. For instance.if I invest in some evolution tier, I won't afford some ship for several turns. I can see where I mouse over the evolution tiers and see the benefits, but it seems really small in comparison to the cost of the upgrade. I really don't understand how resource generation works. Don't mean to bother anyone, just need some clarification on a few campaign issues so I don't get myself stuck or waste tons of hours doing something stupid, and seeking advice.ġ.
